Dave Briggs – Director

Dave has been advising government on how to make best use of social technology to engage with communities and citizens since 2004.
He has worked at all levels of government, from parish councils to 10 Downing Street, and is a regular keynote speaker at conferences.

Catherine Briggs – Director

Catherine is an experienced and professional project manager, who has worked in diverse environments such as further education colleges and large scale engineering plants.
She has the unenviable task of dealing with the finances, project management and also ensuring Dave turns up on time to meetings.

Andrew Beeken – Web Developer and Content Producer
Andrew is a WordPress wizard, who builds all our awesome sites and tools for our clients. He’s also a dab hand with a video camera too!
Andrew is also well versed in online communications, social media techniques, open data, SQL databases, programming and the creation of media such as music and video, having used a variety of commercial and open source tools. He also has experience in the creation of assets and media for print.

Fraser Henderson – Associate
A graduate in applied acoustics, Fraser has a background in the practical evaluation and use of technologies gained from six years experience at the Consumers’ Association RTC (UK) and Philips Research Labs (NL).
A qualified project manager, Fraser led the pilots for the ODPM Local eDemocracy National Project in 2004 under the keep of North Lincolnshire Council and was Centre Manager at the CLG sponsored International Centre of Excellent for Local eDemocracy. Fraser has been working on long term contracts with the North Lincolnshire Digital Inclusion Unit and is an active associate of The Consultation Institute. Recent work includes European Commission projects around the networking of practitioners and digital participation in the legislation making process, e-Health initiatives and assisting with national guidelines on ePetitioning.

Tim Wilson – Associate
Tim joined Kind of Digital as an Associate in August 2011. Tim is a Creative Economy consultant with ten years’ experience in organisational development, project management, strategy and policy, especially across the UK and Europe’s creative and digital sectors.
Tim specialises in business and enterprise development, facilitation and action learning, feasibility and evaluation, bid writing and funding strategy, scoping, mapping and cultural planning.
Tim is a passionate advocate of people-led innovation and creativity working with organisations as a trained Innovation Coach to generate ideas and turn them into opportunities, projects, programmes, visions and strategies. He believes in a high level of service, ensuring sustainable solutions through effective knowledge and intelligence, and a belief in strong partnership and collaboration.
Tim has built a strong reputation from leading projects that represent the diverse interests of the sectors from Creative Industries Business Support and Campaign Management at Business Link West Midlands, to leading consultancy work across the UK and Europe with organisations including Tom Fleming Creative Consultancy, RGA Consulting, CIDA Co, In Smart Company and Fierce Earth.
Tim is also an active member of Birmingham Future, a young professionals’ membership organisation and sits on their Talent, Retention, Development and Community Development Committees.
In his spare time, Tim is also a very active musician and drummer, playing in three bands and has a love for coffee and cinema. You’ll find him on Twitter as @timmy666.
Liz Azyan – Associate
Liz Azyan is a Google Fellowship Recipient (fellows selected based on their work and initiative in the arenas of technology, politics and social entrepreneurship) and a doctoral researcher specialising in digital engagement for government. She has extensive knowledge, skills and experience delivering strategies for
- government digital agencies for online communication with citizens,
- social media research and strategies for government, the NHS, higher education institutions (HEIs), digital agencies and non-profit organizations,
- managing government online communities (LDG),
- developing e-learning courses for government,
- helping digital SME agenices (website developers, e-learning provider, citizen’s digital engagement tool supplier, event organizers and etc) create content to engage with their government users,
- and also carrying out web usability and accessibility tests on government websites whilst working with various government digital agencies across the UK.
Liz has co-authored government digital engagement and social media reports for SocITM (Society of IT Managers), digital agencies and has also written a white paper on how government can better engage with citizens online. Her background includes migrating and redesigning Camden Council’s website and managing Local Directgov’s community, which both focuses on web development and digital engagement strategies for UK local governments. These include initiatives in social media, web usability, development and accessibility. Liz’s work across the web has been recognized by her peers and you can read all about it here.
Liz is also known for her knowledge and involvement in the government’s open data movement, where she hosted the successful ‘Really Useful- Data Discovery Workshop’ (#RU11) for the Department for Communities and Local Government. She has also been invited to speak and become a panel at many digital engagement for government events on citizen engagement in the UK and Europe, which has mostly been covered on her blog – LGEOResearch.com.
